Burgess Jenkins

Biography

Born and raised in Winston-Salem NC, Burgess Attended Lenoir-Rhyne University where he studied Psychology in both undergraduate and graduate school. During this time Burgess signed with a local talent agency and a love of acting was born. He quickly began landing small parts and commercials, but in the summer of 2000 Burgess’ career exploded after he landed the coveted role of Ray Budds in the smash Blockbuster “Remember The Titans” opposite two time academy award winner Denzel Washington. The director would later tell him that over 400 actors read for the role but that he was the only one who brought a rich sense of hatred and betrayal to the antagonistic Budds. With the success of “Titans” Jenkins realized he needed to learn more about the craft and hone his skill, so he enrolled in the famed Playhouse West in Los Angeles. There he would study for the next 4 years under Robert Carnegie and Academy award nominee Jeff Goldblum. Armed with a love for Method acting Burgess has worked tirelessly since in both film and Television. He has starred as academy award winner Hilary Swank’s husband, David Winter in “The Reaping”; played Bobby Irons throughout season 6 on the hit WB series "One Tree Hill" and recurred on LIFETIME'S smash hits "Army Wives" and "Drop Dead Diva".
